Featuring Manny Albam's "Hoo Ray"dedicated to Ray Wright. Also premiering a brand new piece by alum, Billy Petito, and performing Bevan Manson's "Grooveyard Central".

The Eastman Jazz Ensemble, directed by Bill Dobbins, will perform works by Thad Jones, Thelonious Monk, Jimmy Heath, Jack Murray and Ben Oakland, and Rayburn Wright. Wright was the founder of Eastman's jazz composing and arranging curriculum at the beginning of the 1970s, and was chair of the jazz studies and contemporary media department through 1989. His big band composition Sackbut City, named for an early forerunner of the trombone, was recorded by the Eastman Jazz Ensemble on their Montreux double-LP in 1982, and it features the trombone section...
